First up for training this year is Captains Training on 27th
September. This is aimed at;
" Captains who have not done such training
" Captains who have previously been so trained but would like a refresher
" Those about to be appointed Captain
" Anyone who wants to know about the role
The details are:
" Venue - The Brigade Centre, Garnet Street, Bedminster
" Timing - from 10:30 to 15:30 (approx)
" Cost - nil to members of Avon Battalion, £3 to others
" Uniform - not required
" To bring - a packed lunch
How to apply - just telephone me, by 23rd September please.
Please also let me know if you want to do this training but are not available on
the 27th.
A Youth Leader Training (YLT) Course is to be run by the
Battalion
in Bristol on Saturdays on 22nd November, 10th January and a 3rd date on which
all who attend will agree. (Previous suggested dates of 18th October and 8th
November are no longer feasible).
You may have noticed that the Battalion Calendar shows
'Teamwork Skills Experience' for 8th March. This is what used to be the boys
Grade 3 Leadership course but its title and content has been changed with the
introduction of the new badge scheme, 'Discover'. It has always been held in
conjunction with the boys Grade 4 - Queens Badge - Leadership course. Whether
this will continue to be the case needs further consideration. However, I can
confirm that a Grade 4 Leadership course will be run by the Battalion at some
stage this session.
We also have an offer from HQ to come to Bristol and run some
training. I had hoped to get to Felden recently to do 'Advanced YLT' but it was
cancelled, as I was the only applicant. Is there interest in running it locally?
